Danya Fast is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and an Associate Member of UBC’s Department of Pediatrics. She is also Research Scientist at the British Columbia Centre on Substance Use, where she leads the Youth Health Research Program. Her current anthropological and community-based participatory research examines the substance use, care, and healing trajectories of adolescents and young adults who use drugs in Greater Vancouver, as they navigate multiple systems of supervision and ongoing overdose and housing crises. She is the author of The Best Place: Addiction, Intervention, and Living and Dying Young in Vancouver (Rutgers University Press, 2024) and producer of the Living On film project.
