Assistant Professor, University of British Columbia Nursing
I’m a registered nurse and Assistant Professor at the UBC School of Nursing, where I’m developing a program of community-based youth mental health and substance research. Broadly, my research seeks to advance equity in youth mental health and substance use by leveraging critical health and social science perspectives, qualitative and arts-based approaches, and the meaningful participation and expertise of youth who use drugs and/or experience mental health challenges. My work has recently focused on substance use and its social context among unstably housed and 2S/LGBTQ+ youth. Other areas of interest include youth alcohol use, harm reduction, and overdose prevention. Outside of work, I enjoy cycling and more generally getting outdoors, often while thinking about my next opportunity for good coffee and food.
